Large vein sclerotherapy treatments consist of an injection of a sclerosant. This special chemical is injected directly into the varicose vein to scar and damage the lining causing the vein to close. The duration of the session is dependent on the number and size of the veins being treated. Once the injection has been given, the professional applies pressure to the varicose vein.
