Treating Your Spider Veins

Spider veins can be the result of many factors, including aging. You probably do not wish to put on a pair of shorts with a bunch of blue, red or purple veins showing on your legs. The good news is that you can get treated with sclerotherapy in order to make those veins disappear. Before you know it, you will be ready to wear your shorts and head outside with confidence.

Why You Have Spider Veins

Blood uses veins as passages to go back to the heart. Most of the time, your veins are fighting against the force of gravity. This is particularly rampant on the legs since your blood needs to go all the way up. As a young person, your tissues are still effective and aid the veins to push the blood up in the direction of the lungs and heart. However, as you age, the vigor of the support tissues as well as the veins diminishes. This makes your blood back up and puddle in spots. This manifests in the form of spider veins. Spider veins are located just below the surface of your skin, making them very apparent.

How to Get Rid of Spider Veins

Sclerotherapy has been around for decades. It is still one of the best ways to treat spider veins. During this treatment, a special solution is injected directly into the affected veins. It is designed to irritate the vein and cause the walls to shrink up, thus closing the vein. In the months following the treatment, the vein tissues are gradually absorbed into the body. The spider vein slowly disappears. You do not have to worry about where your blood will pass since it will be routed to an adjacent vein.

It is important to understand that vein treatment is not one-size-fits-all. Sclerotherapy may be done alone or in conjunction with other treatments. It all depends on the unique case. If you’re ready to get rid of spider veins using safe, effective, non-surgical methods, allow our team at Pacific Vein Care to help you achieve this goal.
