Sclerotherapy for Effective Spider Vein Treatment

Beautiful legs free of spider veins allow woman to wear short, flowy white skirt to show off her legs while in the city

Spider veins may not be a medical concern, but they can cause you to feel self-conscious. With small vein sclerotherapy, your spider veins can be gone in a couple of months. If you have tried adjusting your standing habits, or are using compression stockings but aren’t seeing any improvement, sclerotherapy offers an effective option. Our comprehensive treatment utilizes both an injection into the affected area and if necessary, laser treatments to ensure that you get the look you want. The team at Pacific Vein Care in McHenry, IL offers effective sclerotherapy treatment for the removal of spider veins and we look forward to helping you too.

What Causes Spider Veins?

There are a number of different factors that can cause spider veins, from genetics and obesity to birth control pills and HRT following menopause. These broken veins are also prevalent in people whose professions require them to stand for long periods of time, such as nurses and hair stylists. These veins can also be present in people who suffer from blood clots or who have experienced an injury or trauma to the affected area. Whatever the cause, most people just want to get rid of them! Fortunately, the treatment for spider vein removal is much less complex than that for varicose veins. Small vein sclerotherapy has very little downtime, making it a popular procedure to get rid of spider veins.

How Many Sessions are Necessary?

While every case is different, there is a typical treatment protocol that is followed for most patients. There is a single injection of sclerotherapy which should take care of eliminating all of your spider veins. Eight weeks after your injection you will return for a follow-up and examination of the effectiveness of the injection. If there are veins that did not respond to the treatment, or if you do not feel that the treatment was effective enough, a laser treatment can then be used to get the results you desire. There may be situations where our team wants to do another injection based on your specific case, but this is not typical.

If you are tired of seeing your spider veins and want to have smooth and clear skin, it’s time to look into sclerotherapy. Contact the team at Pacific Vein Care to schedule your initial consultation today!
