Frequently Asked Questions About Ambulatory Phlebectomy in McHenry, IL

If you are suffering from varicose veins, one treatment procedure our doctors at Pacific Vein Care may suggest is ambulatory phlebectomy. Ambulatory phlebectomy is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure for treating varicose veins. During this procedure, doctors remove small portions of superficial veins. This is an outpatient procedure done under superficial local anesthetic. Swiss dermatologist Dr Robert Muller rediscovered this surgical procedure in 1956. Since then, many patients across the world have opted for this procedure to treat their varicose veins.

Is it the Best Choice?

Ambulatory phlebectomy has many benefits when you compare it to major surgical procedures for the treatment of varicose veins. For instance, some of its benefits include minimally-invasive, shorter recovery time and no risks of recurrence.

Am I a Good Candidate For This Procedure?

Ambulatory phlebectomy may be right for you if you are suffering from embarrassment or discomfort caused by varicose veins. Otherwise, during your initial consultation with our vein doctors, we will tell you whether you are the right candidate for this procedure.

Will I Need an Examination First?

During your initial consultation, your doctor will conduct a physical examination and look at your medical history to determine if you are the right candidate for the procedure. Your surgeon will also discuss your expectations and potential outcomes of the procedure.

How Much Does Ambulatory Phlebectomy Cost?

The typical cost of an ambulatory phlebectomy procedure ranges from $500 to about $2,000 per leg. This cost varies depending on many factors such as the extent of varicose veins, the number of veins affected, and the number of treatment sessions required. Your health insurance may cover this procedure if it is performed to treat an underlying medical condition.
