Achieve Your Goals for Your Legs with Large Vein Therapy

Varicose veins occur in the legs when the superficial veins that carry blood from the legs to the heart stop working properly. Fortunately, since damaged veins are superficial and just underneath the skin, they can be removed without inhibiting healthy circulation. This means you can achieve the goal of smooth legs again. Here at Pacific Vein Care in McHenry, IL, we are proud to offer large vein therapy and encourage you to learn more about it.

Therapy for Varicose Veins

We offer several treatments to remove large varicose veins. When you have your first consultation, your veins will be examined and some tests may be done to determine the extent of the affected veins.

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a treatment that uses an injected chemical to destroy the vein. The chemical irritates the vein wall so it collapses and becomes scar tissue. The body’s natural function of eliminating excess tissue gradually removes the damaged vein. It will not grow back, but other veins could become weak if you don’t find the cause of your venous insufficiency. For larger varicose veins, the chemical is whipped into a foam before it is injected into the vein. Foam moves easier throughout the vein than liquid. Sclerotherapy is minimally invasive and done in our office. The procedure takes a mere matter of minutes, exact length depending on the number of veins being treated.

Am I a Good Candidate for Large Vein Therapy?

Anyone looking to rid themselves of any unwanted large veins may well be eligible for this therapy. It is also important to remember that ideal candidates harbor realistic expectations in terms of what this treatment can accomplish.
