A Closer Look at Varithena Foam Sclerotherapy

The current options for individuals with varicose veins are substantially better than they were in the past. This includes the option of Varithena Foam Sclerotherapy. This treatment has become more localized and less invasive. The procedure addresses problematic veins using a special foam to provide effective relief. The main purpose of any type of sclerotherapy is to reroute the blood from diseased and swollen veins to much healthier pathways. This is accomplished by applying the specialized foam to break down the walls encasing the diseased veins. Once these veins have been sealed, the body reincorporates the old material and the end result is healthier circulation.

Varithena Foam Sclerotherapy is a well-tolerated treatment. All that is necessary is an injection of the specialized foam. There have never been any serious complications reported with this procedure. After the treatment, the patient may have to wear compression stockings for a set amount of time to help with the healing process. The recovery period is also much quicker than with traditional surgery. In the past, the foam was activated by the medical professional when the chemicals were exposed to the air and agitated. This was not done until just before the treatment. The issue was this often caused an inconsistent formulation.

A standardized device is used for preparation with Varithena Foam Sclerotherapy to standardize both the mixture and the foam. This provides more consistent results. This newer procedure has helped individuals relieve the heaviness, pain, itching and swelling in the legs due to varicose veins.

It is important that an accurate diagnosis is made by a qualified professional prior to the procedure. This is done using diagnostic and imaging techniques to assess the area. Depending on the specific issue, it may be necessary to use one or more injections. It is important to tell our team about your medical history. This will ensure we are aware of the potential for any interactions. The actual procedure is performed in the comfort of our office.

One of the best benefits is the patient can go back to their regular schedule the same day they have the treatment. The only necessary restrictions are regarding certain activities such as intense exercising. The Varithena Foam Sclerotherapy approach is highly successful, and the majority of patients are satisfied with their results. This treatment is continuing to improve the lives of people suffering from varicose veins.
