7 BOTOX Myths Busted

Close-up of pretty female touching flawless face with her hands

It is not surprising to come across patients who are misinformed about the application of BOTOX®. To set the record straight, we are going to take a closer look at the top seven myths associated with this injectable treatment.

Myth 1: BOTOX® is only for women.

FACT: Although more women tend to go for this treatment than their male counterparts, this non-surgical procedure can be undertaken by both sexes. For many years, the stigma surrounding cosmetic treatments discouraged men from undertaking the surgery. However, this is gradually changing with more men rising to the occasion to endorse BOTOX®.

Myth 2: The patient ends up with a frozen look.

FACT: BOTOX® treatment simply blocks the neurons from receiving signals which trigger dynamic wrinkles. So patients’ faces still look natural and flexible since most parts of the skin are relaxed and left completely unaffected by the treatment.

Myth 3: BOTOX® is permanent.

FACT: The effects of BOTOX® injections last for multiple months at a time. After this, the skin returns back to normal. This timeframe allows the patient a chance to choose whether to continue with the treatment or not; if they do wish to prolong the results, then they would need to book another session.

Myth 4: The treatment is dangerous.

FACT: Patients can rest at ease that BOTOX® is a safe and sound medical procedure; the treatment’s track record speaks for itself with millions of successful procedures reported worldwide. Nevertheless, the treatment should only be administered by a qualified and licensed professional.

Myth 5: The results are instantaneous.

FACT: The cosmetic changes normally take days to appear, with full results realized after around the twelfth day. This gradual process is advantageous in that patients do not get awkward looks from surprised friends or colleagues after leaving our office.

Myth 6: It’s an addictive procedure, with patients getting too much of it.

FACT: The confidence boost resulting from the finished look is what draws patients to return for further treatments. However, the product itself is not addictive, and we only deliver a small amount of the solution for amazing results.

Myth 7: The injections are invasive.

FACT: The injections involved are mild and very well-tolerated.

Having clarified what BOTOX® is all about, we recommend that you only trust a reputable professional with your treatments. To enjoy our esteemed services, set up a time to visit us at Pacific Vein Care in McHenry. Contact us today for a consultation!
