6 FAQs About Micro-Needling

Brunette 30-year old with finger on chin contemplating micro-needling

Everyone is on the lookout for new treatments to help them look younger. BOTOX® has dominated for approximately 15 years since the FDA approved it, and laser treatments and fillers joined in with the promise of fresher-looking skin. Recently, micro-needling has been gaining praise as a non-surgical way to achieve a youthful, refreshed appearance. At Pacific Vein Care, we offer this treatment to clients who want to see real results, but as a relatively modern treatment, we also get a lot of questions about the procedure.

How does micro-needling work?

Micro-needling treatment uses a device with small needles that are rolled over your skin to generate regulated punctures. As a result, the skin is triggered to switch to repair mode and rejuvenate itself. The needles used are very tiny when compared to traditional ones, and the devices are so gentle they can be used on delicate areas.

Why choose micro-needling?

When your skin switches to repair mode, it triggers the body to produce collagen and elastin, which are responsible for producing firm plumpness. It also enhances skin texture, minimizes the appearance of scars, reduces stretch marks and generates a younger-looking skin tone.

What can I expect?

The thought of having little needles rolling along your skin may sound horrible. However, the process begins with anesthetization. It’s recommended to use topical cream because it has minimal downtime. Treatment is tailored to suit a patient’s wants and needs.

How many times do I need the treatment?

The specific skin condition being treated determines the number of sessions you may require. Usually, a series of treatment sessions is required in order to achieve the desired results. You may also need to undergo maintenance after every few months or so. What makes this procedure unique is that you can use at-home products to top up the treatment. This device helps increase penetration of skin care ingredients into the skin.

How long does it take to see results?

Boosting production of collagen and elastin takes quite some time. You may start seeing results after multiple months.

When should I avoid micro-needling?

This treatment is used in all skin types and colors. However, avoid using it if you have certain conditions, which we can discuss with you during your consultation.
