5 Ways to Deal with Spider Veins

A couple's bare legs standing at the edge of the ocean

For many women, spider veins may seem like one of those nuisances which are just a part of life – something that we’re forced to live with. The truth is that we can take measures against spider veins.

Here are five tips that might help you:

1. Reconsider certain lifestyle choices

Smoking cigarettes and taking hormonal birth control can both add to your likelihood to develop spider veins. Although there are many other compelling reasons to quit smoking cigarettes, you can add spider veins to the list. If hormonal birth control is not a necessity, you may want to reconsider taking it.

2. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine

Obesity can lead to poor blood circulation, which can lead to varicose veins. As a result, it may be worthwhile to consider leading a more active lifestyle. There are many benefits to leading an active lifestyle; getting rid of varicose veins is just one of them!

3. Experiment with make up

While not necessarily the most convenient way to deal with spider veins, make up can certainly be effective for camouflaging spider veins in the short term, such as for a big event. Certain types of heavy-duty foundation, concealer, bronzer and tanner are formulated to conceal blemishes like varicose veins.

4. Try a horse chestnut seed extract supplement

Regularly taking horse chestnut seed extract supplements has been shown to reduce the symptoms of poor blood circulation, including spider veins. Although horse chestnut seed extract cannot treat or prevent spider veins, it can reduce swelling and redness of the veins.

5. Sclerotherapy

Without a doubt, the most effective measure taken against spider veins is sclerotherapy. The beauty of sclerotherapy is the fact that patients don’t need any downtime after the brief injection. Side effects are extremely rare, and you will begin to notice the results immediately.

While spider veins can often feel impossible to treat or get rid of, they’re not! If you are ready to get rid of your spider veins, we are here to help, so contact us at Pacific Vein Care today.
